Pine cone woodcut print

This is my print of a stunning pinecone, something I’ve been obsessed with since I was a child, collecting them in parks and woodlands.

I specifically wanted to cut this print from a woodblock to capture the element it came from, to work with natural grain and allow the wood to give back to the print. 
The block is Japanese Katsura wood, as pine is too soft to cut a block that wood give the detail I required. 
the image area is 31cm x 21cm on a beautiful French Arches 175gsm paper of 42cm x 30cm
